Both are very similar. The location and theme of each resort is the only real difference. Caribbean beach is a bit larger and there may be more walking involved. Port Orleans Riverside is the only moderate resort to offer the ability to have 5 people in a room so larger families tend to focus on that.

With both resorts, you’re going to have a bit of a walk to your rooms, unless you spend the extra $25 a night for a preferred room at Caribbean Beach. Your accomodations are going to be the same at each, with color scheme being the only real difference in the rooms.

If you don’t splurge and still stay at Caribbean Beach, there are lots of places to stop along the beach, hang out in a hammock and just take a breather. The pool is very nice, the food court well laid out and there are other bus stops around the resort besides the one right out front of the main lobby.

With Port Orleans Riverside, if you’re planning on spending time at Downtown Disney, you have the water taxi, which is fun and the breeze off the water, which is really nice if its a typical hot September day. You’d also be able to take the water taxi to Port Orleans French Quarter and have those lovely beignets they do so well over there.

You can’t go wrong with either one.

i have stayed at riverside before…it is a nice resort. My husband and I are going in September also (ARE YOU GOING FOR THE FREE DINING??). We are staying at the Caribean beach resort because I was looking up the inof on the rooms and they room sizes at the caribean beach are just a tad larger. We have a king (preferred room) because we really do not need 2 beds and these rooms are closer to the bus stops and the dining area. I used and they have all kinds of pictures of the resorts and the rooms. They also lists facts is to where I got about the room sizes being bigger at CBR. Good luck and have fun in Disney….I can;t wait til Sept!!

I stayed at POR last year and it was absolutely beautiful. It was very romantic and spacious and the resturant was very good. Caribbean is also beautiful but not as relaxing. Either one is great, but we are staying at POR this year too.

Port Orleans Riverside is beautiful. You can rent boats, and take drives on the River. You can also take a romantic walk along the river with your boyfriend. THey have mini lamps that light the way.

Also the restaurant Boatwrights is very good. It is included in the Disney Dining Plan if you are getting that.

Caribbean Beach needs an update and is not as romantic as Riverside.

If you and your boyfriend want to have a romantic setting while on vacation, then I would recommend Port Orleans Riverside. The resort is split up into 2 sections…Aligator bayou which is more of a swampy, yet beautiful feel to it…it is a bit rustic. Then there is Magnolia Bend which consist of 4 huge mansion type buildings. These are set along the river. I am more apt to the mansions, but that is my personal oppinion. Port Orleans have a lot of pros to the resort. It is more serene and quiet, it is wonderful for those moonlit walks around the resort, there is a carriage ride that you and your beau can take. If you are into fishing, then you can rent rods and bait, but you will have to release the fish once you catch them. There is a great ferry that takes you to Port Orleans French Quarters and to Downtown Disney. Also, the Riverside and French Quarters are sister resorts, which means they share each other’s amenities. So if you decide that one day you want to try out French Quarter’s swimming pool, you can do so. The other pro to the Riverside is that it has a really great sit-down restaurant called Boatwrights, this is my family’s favorite place to have a nice relaxing meal that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. The only con that I can see to this resort is that it is one of the larger moderate resorts, so everything is a bit spread out.

As for Caribbean Beach that too is a large moderate resort with a beach like feel to it. I personally have never stayed there before, but my brother and his fiance was there this past Feb. and they loved it. They have their own personal bus that takes you around the resort. There is also a sit-down restaurant in this resort, but have never eaten there. You can hear Caribbean music play throughout the resort, so it feels as if you are on a secluded island. Also, this resort is located near Epcot, so you are able to watch the fireworks from the beach.

My suggestion to you, if you are still torn between the two, is go to allearsnet.com and check out each of these wonderful resorts. They have many wonderful pics and info on everything Disney. Enjoy!
